Privacy Policy

Gosling is operated by Alexandros Filippidis ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and your rights.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account using Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, we receive your name and email address. We use this to create and manage your account.
Child profile information. You provide information about your children to create care profiles for babysitters and caregivers. This may include:
- Name, date of birth or age range, gender, weight, and photo
- Interests, fears, and favorite foods
- Emergency contacts
Medical and health information. With your explicit consent, you may enter medical information about your children, including allergies, medications, medical conditions, EpiPen location, pediatrician contact details, insurance information, and medical consent preferences. This is sensitive data and is only collected when you choose to provide it.
Routine and care instructions. You may enter daily routine information including bedtime schedules, nap times, meal preferences, bath instructions, discipline approach, screen time rules, and calming techniques.
Subscription information. If you subscribe to Gosling Pro, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never see or store your payment card details, bank account, or other financial information.
Usage data. We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it. This includes which screens are visited and which features are used. This data is not linked to your identity or your children's information.
Device information. We automatically collect basic device data such as device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility purposes.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Gosling service
- To store and sync your child profiles
- To share profile information with caregivers only when you explicitly choose to
- To manage your subscription status
- To improve the app based on anonymous usage patterns
- To send important service communications (security alerts, policy changes)
We do not use your data or your children's data for advertising, profiling, or marketing purposes.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell your children's information. We never will.
Caregivers you authorize. When you create a share link, the recipient can view the child profile information you choose to share. You control who receives share links and can revoke them at any time. Share links on the free plan expire automatically after 24 hours.
Service providers. We use the following third-party services to operate Gosling:
- Apple — authentication (Sign In with Apple) and payment processing (App Store)
- Google — authentication (Google Sign In)
- RevenueCat — subscription status management. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user ID and subscription status. They do not receive your name, email, or any child data.
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics. PostHog receives aggregated usage events that cannot be linked to your identity or your children.
These service providers process data on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
Business transfers. If Gosling is acquired or merged, your data may be transferred to the new entity. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Children's information
Gosling is designed for use by parents and guardians age 18 and older. Children do not create accounts or interact with the app directly. All child data is entered and managed by the parent or guardian.
While the app is not directed at children and does not collect information directly from anyone under 13, we take the protection of children's data seriously:
- Child profile data is stored with the same security protections as all other data (encryption in transit and at rest)
- Child data is shared only with caregivers you explicitly authorize through share links
- We do not use children's data for analytics, advertising, or any purpose other than displaying it to you and your authorized caregivers
- Medical and health data about children requires your explicit consent before collection
- You can delete any child profile and all associated data at any time
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided information directly to us, please contact us immediately at hello@gosling.app and we will delete the information.
5. Data security
We protect your data using industry-standard security measures:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest
- Authentication tokens and sensitive credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain
- Database access is restricted with row-level security policies
- We do not store payment information (handled entirely by Apple)
No system is 100% secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data retention and deletion
Active accounts. We retain your data for as long as your account is active and needed to provide the service.
Child profile deletion. When you delete a child profile, all associated data — including medical records, routines, care instructions, and photos — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
Account deletion. When you delete your account, all data including your personal information, all child profiles, and all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Active share links are immediately revoked.
Share link expiration. Share links on the free plan expire automatically after 24 hours. You can revoke any share link at any time, which immediately prevents further access.
Analytics data. Anonymous usage analytics are retained for up to 12 months and cannot be linked to your account after deletion.
7. Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Access all data stored in your account through the app
- Correct any information at any time through the app
- Delete individual child profiles or your entire account
- Revoke any share link at any time
- Export your data by contacting us
- Withdraw consent for medical data collection at any time
To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app settings or contact us at hello@gosling.app. We will respond within 30 days.
8. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:
- The right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it
- The right to request deletion of your personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — though we do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
We will not deny you service, charge different prices, or provide a lower quality of service because you exercise your privacy rights.
9. European residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our lawful basis for processing your personal data is your consent (for account creation and medical data) and the performance of our contract with you (to provide the Gosling service).
In addition to the rights listed in Section 7, you have the right to:
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format
- Restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data
- Object to processing — object to our use of your data in certain circumstances
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
10. Third-party links
Gosling may contain links to third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites or services. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of Gosling after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
